“I dream of an Africa which is in peace with itself.”
“Money won't create success, the freedom to make it will.”
Nelson Mandela was a guy who born 18 July 1918. He was a president of South Africa during 10 May 1994 – 14 June 1999. Nelson Mandela urges us to consider that your dream will be real if you work hard and believe in your thoughts. Nelson Mandela supports the idea that if you do your best, someone will surely evaluate it, something will change and that trying to make peace and freedom is worth being fought for.
Believing in yourself and working hard for peace and freedom is important to fight for because sometimes in the beginning few people support or agree or follow you. If you try hard people will start looking at your efforts and it will surely make a difference in people’s minds and in the world.Nelson Mandela exemplifies the importance of believing in yourself and working hard for peace and freedom. He worked hard with his national rugby team the Springboks. At that time the sport of rugby had many rules and the equipment was too expensive for the black people so only the people who were wealthy played rugby. Mostly the whites. The blacks had to play soccer. In the movie called Invictus, it also shows at the movie by looking the way blacks and whites look. The blacks are not wearing t-shirts and the some other equipments and they don’t wear shoes; also the place where they are playing soccer is really hard and make us feel like when we run with no shoes, our feet are going to hurt. For whites, they have a nice uniform and wearing a good shoes and playing on ground which is really clean and has nice grass and even if we run with no shoes, it’s not going to hurt. Also when people are watching the rugby game, black people were cheering the team which the whites were not cheering which shows that blacks and whites were not very happy about each other. South Africa was very unpopular country for rugby and most of the people didn’t cheer them. They were expelled from the international community so they weren’t allowed to join the first and the second rugby world cup. In the rugby team, there was 30 people in one team and only one person was black, because people was thinking rugby is for the people who has high ranking and The Blacks were expelled by making a big fence against the rugby practice ground and the Blacks playing ground. The Springboks were really weak and lost many games. But one man changed everything - Nelson Mandela. He made the blacks join the team and made the people in the Sprinboks meet black children. The whites in the Springboks started to change their mind about rugby and blacks. When the blacks joined the team, the black people started to cheer the Springboks with the whites. Blacks and whites practiced for the world cup together and the team worked harder and harder. In the Springboks first world cup match, they made the world cup place for South Africa. Everyone cheered for the Springboks and they got to the final. It was the first time they got to the final. Everyone, everyone cheered for them and hoped for them. And they won! And all of the people in South Africa, it didn’t matter, black or white, all of the people were happy. This event made the whites and blacks become closer and made all of the people change their mind about discrimination. Nelson Mandela was the middle of the person. He was the person who made this happen by not telling people to get together, he usually showed and made people get together like a usual and normally getting friends. From this it is clear that Nelson Mandela worked hard for the country even at the beginning none of the people followed or had a compassion for him. And that freedom and peace is what’s important to fight for.
Believing in yourself and working hard for peace and freedom is important to fight for because if your try hard, someone will surely evaluate and make a difference of people’s minds and the world in a good way. Nelson Mandela exemplifies the importance of believing in yourself and making it happen even there’s few people who follow. White people got preferential treatment and the black people were always second and couldn’t make their own decisions. He started fighting the government and made a group called Umkhonto we Sizwe , becoming the leader for that group. The government people weren’t very happy about the movement which, so they put him into jail but he still worked very hard. I think many blacks wanted to fight the government and make peace and freedom, but they were afraid of being captured. So even though they wanted to, they couldn’t do it. But Nelson Mandela did it. So many people moved their minds and it made them think that they have to work hard to get freedom. He told people that if you want freedom or peace, YOU have to move. You have to work, if you’re doing nothing and only feel like wanting freedom it’s not going to change anything. You have to WORK you have to do something. He changed it because he WORKED, he MOVED he didn’t only think. From this it is clear that believing yourself and working hard for peace and freedom is important to fight for because if your try hard, someone will surely evaluate what you are doing and make a difference to people’s minds and the world in a good way.
Nelson Mandela exemplifies the importance of believing in yourself and working hard for peace because he worked really hard for everything to make South Africa to a peaceful and freed country. In 1989 December, he talked with the person who was president at that time Frederik Willem de Klerk about the discrimination. Maybe, De Klerk didn’t want to make war happen after Nalson Mandela came out from jail in February1990 . Mandela became ANC vice-chairman. In 1991, he became the ANC chairman. He worked with De Klerk and made South African Democratic Congress representatives attended with all races. In 1994, he became president of South Africa and made all of the blacks and whitesresolve discrimination and South Africa became a peaceful and freed country. All of this happened because of Nelson Mandela’s movements. He changed everything. If he wasn’t born, maybe South Africa would still be a bad country with no freedom and no peace.
Without peace and freedom the world would be a bad, bad place and people who in high ranks would get everything what they want and the people in low ranks would get nothing and having no citizenship. Maybe, there might be not cities for the poor people, no houses, and no money. So the world with peace and freedom is really important. Believing in yourself and working hard for peace and freedom is inspirational because if your try hard, someone will surely evaluate what you are doing and make a difference in people’s minds and the world will be a better place.

ReplyDeleteI really liked the part about the rugby, when blacks were not allowed to play and trained with whites. Since black people were poor, they had to play with no shoes but most of them couldn't play. Therefore, I understood one action from Nelson Mandela that he started to help blacks to join with whites, which made huge difference. Also, when you wrote the word in capital letters, I realized that word is really important in that paragraph. (and actually it was) it made me think "what action can our world do to that problem?" Over all, I enjoyed reading your essay because it showed me why Nelson Mandela did those action and how did he do that. However, if one thing I need to comment on to be better, you can maybe check (re-read) your essay whether there is mistakes or not. There were some simple mistakes also you used too many "and". Except that, if you improve those, I learned more about Nelson Mandela.
